Our Virtual Design Service Explained

Draw a Floor Plan

Start by doing your research both for the style, look and feel you wish to create as well as all the practical elements that need to be included and, most importantly, your budget. Draw a floor plan and make it as detailed as possible. Mark up the position of doors and windows, light switches, plug sockets, the boiler, even structural elements such as a chimney breast, any pillars and beams or a sloping ceiling supporting a staircase above – basically any immovable details that will need to be worked around. Note down their measurements, including the height from floor to window sill and the top of the window to ceiling for instance as well as which direction the doors open. You don’t have to be an expert draughtsperson to produce a helpful floor plan, just do what you can. Take photos of the room you wish to redesign from lots of angles and in a good light. This now forms the basis of your starting point and you can discuss with us the sort of thing you want to create within the space.

Use Online Tools

When it comes to style and layout, use online tools and social media platforms such as Pinterest, Houzz and Instagram and search for terms that interest you such as ‘2021 Interior Trends’, ‘Industrial’, ‘Contemporary’, ‘Classic’ or ‘Space-Saving’. Save any designs, room schemes or general images of materials, products, finishes, textures, colours and styles that you are drawn to and send them to us. This can be incredibly helpful in assisting our designers really ‘get’ your style.

What Needs To Be Different?

Make a note of anything that does and doesn’t work in the current layout – perhaps you need more storage space or extra workspace; maybe now you’re working from home more you could do with an ergonomic desk area that fits in with the rest of the room scheme.

What Next? Speak To Us…

With the above our virtual design process can produce exceptional results- and remember, with a virtual consultation you won’t miss out on the experience of having 3D designs, plans and samples either. Any door, tile, flooring or worktop samples can be posted out to you and the advantage of this is that you can see how the colour, finish and texture looks in different lights at different times of the day, in the room it’s going to be installed in. What’s more, you can do this at your leisure, coffee in hand. In fact, having a telephone or online consultation is the ultimate in comfort and convenience. Once you’re both ready, we can still come out and do a site visit if you are comfortable with this, so there really is no need to put off that dream project. Use your time at home to consider all the elements that will turn an unloved space into the ultimate kitchen for culinary creativity, a bathroom that becomes a soothing sanctuary, a bedroom for rest and relaxation or a home office for a productive day. Your journey to that dream interior starts here.
